On May 17th in Church History from LDS Gifts

  • 1844: Joseph Smith is nominated as a candidate for president of the United States with Sidney Rigdon as a running mate.
  • 1877: President John Young breaks ground for the Logan Temple.
  • 1884: President John Taylor dedicates the Logan Temple.
  • 1888: President Wilford Woodruff dedicates the Manti Temple.
  • 1959: The first stake in Indiana is organized. Today there are 11 stakes.
