On May 10th in Church History from LDS Gifts

  • 1837: A bank panic in New York begins which eventually leads to the failure of the Kirtland Anti-Banking Safety Society. The failure of the Kirtland Bank lead to major apostasy in the early Church.
  • 1869: The first transcontinental railroad is completed at Promontory Summit in Utah Territory. The Church uses the new railroad heavily to transport leaders, missionaries, and converts across the country. It marks the end of the wagon and handcart companies moving across the plains.
  • 1995: The release of The Book of Mormon in American Sign Language is announced by the 1st Presidency.

Thank you for visiting Great LDS Gifts.
